Blake Mills and Kevin Breit use foam mutes stuffed between the strings and guitar body from time to time. It’s a wonderful way to change the response of the instrument and thwart some of your own habits and expectations. This was recorded in The Annex with an unplugged Telecaster and my iPhone balanced precariously on my thigh, right next to the guitar. I was sitting on top of my right leg to keep the phone in the right spot and when I got the take and stood up the leg was so asleep I almost collapsed.
Introspective, homespun folk tunes from John Donne that feel informed by the sugary bleakness of '80s and '90s indie pop. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 1, 2023

Everything Shawn William Clarke does is pretty. Pretty guitar playing, vocals, songwriting, and with this album, a lovely sonic landscape. Perfect music for drinking your morning coffee while gazing out the window. Track 1 is the most calming and hopeful music I've heard in a really long time. Bet Smith
